This video is provided by "Betty Sell" from AAA travels. In this video she tells about the international travel and also about the important documents to be carried while carrying out an international travel, that is the international driving permit, commonly called as an IDP. It's very important to carry an IDP while traveling overseas because an IDP acts as an important recognizable form of photo identification which helps us to communicate with foreign authorities. To get more information on IDP, we can go to AAA travels. IDP's are honored in more than 150 countries outside the United states. An IDP can only be used along with valid U.S driving license and if an IDP is not valid in the country where you live in, you can apply for an IDP at AAA travels, which is authorized by the United States to issue the international driving permit to U.S residents who hold a valid driving license. AAA can also issue "Inter American Driving Permit (IADP)", which is recognized in Mexico, Central and South America.

Requirements to apply for an IDP:

1.Must be at least 18 years of age

2.Valid U.S driver's license

3.Fee - 15 USD

4.Two original passport size photos

Also we need to fill the application form in advance, IDP's may not be issued more than six months in advance of the desired effective date. IDP's can also be secured by mail, just send the following to AAA office:

1. Enclose completed application form

2. Two original passport size photos signed on the reverse

3. 15 USD permit fee

4. Photocopy of both sides of driver's license.

Normally it will take 4 to 6 weeks to get the return mail. While applying online digital photographs can also be used provided the photograph is of fine quality.
