How to Endure a Long Elevator Ride

Jul 24, 2009 05:17 PM

Riding in an elevator with frequent stops can be a mind-numbingly boring experience. Here are some tips on how to make your ride more bearable.

Stand near the front, at the side - it will be easier to get out of the elevator at your stop and you'll get some fresh air when the doors open.

Decide how you will endure each elevator ride. You can:

  • Drink water or eat something small
  • Go over your schedule for the day
  • Listen to your iPod
  • Look at people's shoes
  • Practice good posture
  • Read
  • Relax
  • Start a conversation

Mix and match these options to produce the most optimal elevator ride experience.

Tips

  • If you really can't bear it, take the stairs - just make sure you know which doors are unlocked on which floors so you're not trapped.
  • Go in the elevator at off peak times - you may need to start work late or take a later lunch break to accomplish this.

Warnings

  • Don't elbow anyone in the face while drinking your water.

Things You'll Need

  • A water bottle
  • An iPod
